Welcome, and thank you for helping bring Juno to as much people as possible, it means the world to us!

Before you start

You must accept the Contributor Agreement before your first save. It confirms you grant us the right to ship your translation, and that the work is your own (not stolen from someone or somewhere else, nor translated using genAI).

If you are unsure what a string means, leave it untranslated and ask. An untranslated string falls back to English, which is always safer than a confident guess. You can use the comment box on the string to leave questions.

Length limits are important

Many strings show a maximum length. These are not advice: the text is drawn into a fixed UI element, and going over means it will look broken. Weblate blocks saves that exceed the maximum. That said, this is a rule of thumb, www is wider than iii but both are the same character count, so if you run into a max limit that doesn't really make sense let us know.

Where a note says "N chars recommended", that is the length the layout was designed around. Going over is fine but it may look a bit crammed or be scaled down a bit.

Keep in mind the annotation may not be perfect, the volume of things to annotate was massive and it is a job very prone to human error and copy-paste typos. If you find any nonsensical length limit or note let us know.

Do not change code tokens

Some strings contain fragments the game reads as code. Translate the words around them and leave the tokens byte-for-byte identical:

• {0}, {1} - Values the game substitutes in. Keep them, but you may reorder them if your language needs a different word order.

• @Planet, @Count, @Count:s - The same idea with names. The :s suffix is a plural marker; keep it exactly.

• %ActivateInstruction% - A reference to another piece of text.

• <b>, <br>, <color=...> - Formatting markup.

  Vizzy programming blocks (keys starting Vizzy.Toolbox.Format.) are stricter, because their shape defines the block:

• [list] - A dropdown's identity. Never translate or reorder.

• (0), (1:Number) - A value slot. The number must not change.

• {0} - A condition slot. The number must not change.

• |Vizzy.EventVariable.Something| - A variable reference. Leave it alone; the name players see is translated separately under Vizzy.EventVariable.*.

• |i| and other plain words in pipes - A loop variable's default name. This one you may translate, keeping the | | around it.

  Each of these strings carries a note listing exactly which tokens to keep.

Strings you cannot edit

A few strings are marked read-only - font asset paths and similar. They look like text but are engine resources; they are configured by the developers per language. If your language needs a different font (for example, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Russian, or any script Latin fonts do not cover), open an issue or comment rather than editing - it requires a font asset to be added to the game itself.

Context

Most strings have a developer note explaining where the text appears. Read it — the same English word is often translated differently as a button, a title, and a sentence. The glossary holds our fixed vocabulary (part names, "Vizzy", stage, craft); please follow it so terminology stays consistent across the game.
